Hess

Hey, welcome to, let me tell you this about that. This is Hess from the white chair.

Delbert

Hey, and this is Delbert back on the green couch, Hess. It's a little overcast today. Here's your weather report. And but I've got my Christmas tree on, even though it's the daytime because I'm loving looking at my Christmas tree lights.

Hess

And so everybody out there this is a circle. Let me tell you this about that. And so what I would like to tell you this about that pods is this will always be out there in the world. We're not making any new recordings because. There's a new part of this circle back in November, and we gotta always watch out and take care of ourselves. You all, that was back when some SNAP benefits were being withheld and people would know if they get their SNAP. And if you listen to our podcasts, something that's so important to Delbert is the Carole's kitchen, the legacy for her sister to feed. children that there is about 33 how many thousands of people, kids in LE in Louisville, Delbert, that have food scarcity since the SNAP benefits during that particular week they were gonna be withheld Delbert, you got asked to do 15 more schools or something like that week.

Delbert

I went from having 10 or 11 schools that I helped in different capacities with Carole's kitchen to having o over 17 that had reached out. And I ha I always have a food drive during Thanksgiving, but it was just really next level. It had several locations and a lot of moving parts, and so I just felt like I needed to step back from the podcast and and concentrate on that. So I've gained a lot of schools that my family and I are helping with Carole's Kitchen and I'm gonna continue to do that and to grow the kitchen and, during that time, we also solidified Meghan, my niece's legacy. We have Meghan's Recipe Club.

Hess

Oh

Delbert

We got a new logo for that, and we it's easy to cook pantry staple recipes for kids. And so it's life skills plus learning, how to budget and learning how to do simple things that can stretch. And that's been really wonderful thing to do with my niece, Lizzie. She created the logo and, it's just beautiful. It re it reflects Meghan's spirit really well. So all of those things going on and I, I was telling Hess, in life it's so good to say yes'cause CAthy just said, CAthy, Hess's wife just said you two should do a podcast. And I just said, okay, I'll do it. And then Hess went out and learned how to record it and set it up and edit it and put it out there for everybody. And so she, she was doing all the heavy lifting, but just showing up weekly and having time to make sure I had enough, content and, enough to say that I felt was relevant. I didn't have time to do that any longer. Now I you need to say yes, but you also need to. Know when it's time to say no, and how to show up for yourself. Put that oxygen mask on yourself first so that you can take care of other people. So that's where I'm at.

Hess

And that, yeah, so that happened on a particular Thursday, Delbert, and I was like, whoa, because this is something that I felt was given something back to me. Is putting something out there for you all just to be able to listen to a conversation between. two 67-year-old women who've been friends for 61 years. That this is how it started was just our conversations. Delbert, on Sunday mornings helped me set the tone for having a good week and put things in perspective to me. So when CAthy and I were driving back from a trip seeing friends in New Jersey, we were listening to a bunch of different podcasts. And I said, Bert and I ought to do a podcast. And CAthy goes, yeah, you should. And I go, okay, I'm driving. And so just picture us in the car. This is in this is in South. Western Pennsylvania. I said, okay, text Delbert right now. So she text you with my phone and then right away you said Yes. And that was just okay. And that was one step forward and Okay, how do you do podcasts? And then I said I really like this one podcast. We can do hard things. I love the song they do. So I got Carla Gover. We she interviewed. Bert and I and found out what our purpose was, and she did this beautiful song that you listen to on the podcast. And then Carla had her own podcast and she's pretty smart. It person. She showed me what I need to do and help set it up so that it's easily edited and then can be uploaded to another. Platform called BuzzSprout and then that can go to all of the podcast platforms. So that's something that I got from college Delbert, is the more you know, the more you know you don't know, but you find people who know and who can help you

Delbert

Right.

Hess

and. I just really appreciate you so much, Delbert saying yes, because I felt like that was a contribution I could make with what happened in the election and then what's happened since. January 21st, I felt like being able to give somebody the gift and non-politically just a nice, beautiful conversation about caring for each other and caring for other people that I was contributing that to the world.

Delbert

Exactly.

Hess

Yeah so it was so many good things I was getting from it. And then Delbert, you said hold the boat, it's a Heave Hut Hoe for me right now, my life has, with the SNAP benefits, I've been asked for more schools. I gotta take a pause that was like, boom. That kind like, ooh, okay. I felt that for about eight hours, Delbert until later on in that very same day. The UPS lost an engine on a plane and there's 12 or 13 people dead, later on in that day. And that puts things in perspective okay, there's no tragedy here. That's a tragedy on that runway, but there's no tragedy here. That and. found out that we can still have this on a platform and people can still listen to this. Add fineum, it's always gonna be there, out there in the universe. And there we've got 54 podcasts. We were good Delbert, we showed up every week. If we were gonna be going on a trip we'd record a few days early. We made it work. And so those podcasts are out there and they're still doing their stuff. We still get downloads every week.

Delbert

Right and. We just want it to be a positive, uplifting experience for you, and we have enjoyed doing it so much being here on the green couch in the white chair, just sharing our week, sharing our hopes and dreams with you all and, and hoping that we give you something to smile about and feeling less alone in this big, old world.

Hess

Yeah. And so this was really a model of Yes, take a risk. Put it out there. This

Delbert

Yeah,

Hess

this, you know this is not the end of something. This is the beginning of something new, right?

Delbert

Whenever something is

Hess

lot. You've been doing a lot of writing about your childhood. You're gonna do more writing and get an editor for some of your childhood stories. You're

Delbert

right.

Hess

that going on. You had a really super busy year in real estate, a really productive year. You really helped a lot of people there. And you're moving on into 26. It's gonna be a great year also.

Delbert

Thank you. Yes, I am. I gonna. Do a lot of work and hope I'm hitting the easy button, like working smarter, not harder, and doing all the right things and best things for my clients. And then of course my family and Carole's kitchen is always first. And then just experience life and relax and, reverse bucket list, as we talked about, that was one of my favorite podcasts that we did. I can check off. I did a podcast. Okay. Check.

Hess

Yeah,

Delbert

we had into that new year, like the resolutions, I quit doing'em a long time ago. I just do positive affirmations and a vision board and. Think about all the things that are positive that I wanna do.

Hess

Yeah. Yeah. So good. It's so good. You had a really successful year because you. You are good to your clients. Your clients are family, and you take care of people and you become connected to them. So of course you're gonna be successful Delbert because there for people. And helped me you helped me with with some real estate in our family and your, the way that you helped us, it was it wasn't an, it wasn't too emotionally painful to move a family home. You're like, there needs to be life and blood in the pipes and water flowing through'em. You don't want property just to sit there and it's you're exactly right.

Delbert

Thank you. That's so nice. What about your plans for this new year? I think you've got plans for.

Hess

Okay let me so I'm like, I'm, I got my tail between my legs, I'm down at the barn. I rode my horse, it's, up to the house, I'm having lunch with CAthy, and the first person I told that Bert needs to take a rest and take care of herself, and and we're sitting at the lunch table. At the dining room table and kitchen table having lunch. And CAthy said you want, I could do a podcast with you? And I go, yeah. And something that CAthy always says. She always says, it's all good. That's helped, that helps her roll with whatever happens in life, it's all good. There's gonna be something positive happen from whatever it is, it is all good. So we're gonna, we're gonna jump in that, and also I think what. What Delbert with us doing our podcast something that I thought in my mind that that, that would be a good idea is a podcast where I know a lot of people in my business of mental health that, that have some of their wisdom that they could share. About things they know. So I have a friend and we might jump in together and try something out together and do something about mental health.

Delbert

So you're gonna continue helping your own clients in the new year, and then help people with your friend on this new podcast, and then you and CAthy. I think that'll be a really cool podcast.

Hess

Yeah. Yeah. We already took our photo for it.

Delbert

I love it.

Hess

yeah. Yeah. And I've done some writing too and an editor just has sent back what? The edited version of what I'd written. And it's about, there you are, about being who you are and seeing people for their individual spark in light and giving your own spark and light to the world. I trademarked that. There you are. I have a license plate that says, there you are and have a website. There you are. But, that's something I'll be working on is trying to get this out there for other people to read. There you are.

Delbert

Beautiful. I love it.

Hess

Yeah. Yeah. Whenever you all if you're thinking about doing something, do it and it a come it's one step at a time. It's, you don't do it all at once. this all formulated from just an idea and then a yes, and then just. Discovering and finding out more. And just start with the first step. And

Delbert

think,

Hess

we

Delbert

yeah.

Hess

where I gotta, that's where I gotta take those steps now is starting with some new steps.

Delbert

Exactly. We both started writing on the back of, the current things that we're writing. I think we started writing on the back of the Relation Ship at Lake Laurel.

Hess

Yeah.

Delbert

yeah.

Hess

yeah.

Delbert

Get out there and get outside and love nature and love your life and say yes, but.

Hess

kind to people.

Delbert

care of yourself and say no when you need to say no.

Hess

Yeah. Yeah. I, we've got a lot of pods about that. Delbert is the recharge,

Delbert

Yeah.

Hess

you all pass these around and listen to our past podcasts because we talk about being able to take care of yourself and recharge, because if you're burnout, you're not gonna if your glass is half empty, you gotta fill your glass up your cup up so that it can overflow to other people.

Delbert

Exactly. Put that oxygen mask on first and take care of yourself and love yourself and don't stress about the future. Just take action. We'll, oh. One of my other favorite podcasts was when we talked about, and I heard somebody else talking about this the other day and I shared it with somebody that said it really helped'em. So the one where if you feel yourself being spun into the ground and really down, just stop for a minute and name it, name what that is, stop. Name it. And then once you get your bearings and you've named it, then start moving just any kind of motion and it'll get you out of that downward spiral outta the ground and spin you right back up and onto the earth. And and that's a,

Hess

back.

Delbert

yeah, back back up.

Hess

Right in any emotion. Delbert, we can feel it for 90 seconds. Just feel it. Don't even think more about it. Feel it in your body. Just allow it. Just feel it. Just keep circling back and feel it, and then it dissipates and then start moving.

Delbert

Yeah.

Hess

like Doty says, get out the door.

Delbert

Yeah, get outside, get out the door. Just start moving. If you don't move it, you'll lose it. Doty used to always say, too, that's my mom. But friends, you're gonna be able to find Hess on her other two podcasts. We're gonna be archived and you can still listen to all of our podcasts that we did this past. Little over a year. And my name's Judy Watson Gordon, you can find me at Kentucky Select Properties. I'm on our website in Louisville, and you can also find my charity, Carole's kitchen.org. And it's Carol with an E. You can always find, you can always find, I'm not in the witness program protection program,

Hess

those are listed at the bottom here. Yeah, I saw the website looks great. Delbert

Delbert

Oh, thanks. I gotta update it a little. I was just saying that, we got Meghan's logo done and that's not on there yet, so

Hess

You'll put the, you'll put the Meghan's recipes on

Delbert

Yeah.

Hess

Super So we love you and thanks for this opportunity. And these are great conversations. Share'em, listen to'em, send them to people, and they'll always be out there in the universe. And so are we moving on

Delbert

Absolutely.

Hess

The circle is spiraling up still.

Delbert

Still spiraling up. Hess. I love you.

Hess

I love you

Delbert

We love you friends.

Hess

Peace and love.

Delbert

Peace and love.
